The son of the master gunsmith Johann Heinrich Gottlieb Anschütz, Julius Gottfried Anschütz founded the company J.G. ANSCHÜTZ to manufacture flobert and pocket pistols, teschings, shotguns and Lancaster tercerols in Zella-Mehlis, Thuringia.

The factory is enlarged and in 1909 already employs 175 people, increasing to 200 in the next 5 years.
1914

Wartime brought disillusionment everywhere and this was also expressed in architectural styles and typography. The company logo - introduced next to the Germania - became round again. The three initials "JGA", placed one below the other, filled the inner circle.
1923
1923
Otto Veit Anschütz passes away. The company is continued by Fritz August Anschütz supported by his two sons Max Fritz and Rudolf Charles Anschütz, the third ANSCHÜTZ generation.
1935

New start in the Danube Bastion in Ulm. The company J.G. ANSCHÜTZ GmbH is founded. With 7 employees and 20 machines, air pistols and gun repairs are initially carried out, then Flobert rifles and match rifles are added. The workforce quickly grows to 250 employees. The first successes in shooting sports are achieved, and then one achievement follows another.

The former boxing world champion Max Schmeling was also a member of the German national team in clay pigeon shooting. As target shooter and hunter he was familiar with ANSCHÜTZ rifles and bought some of them directly in Ulm.
Germany's No. 1 sports idol obviously had a highly creative streak, because he recommended that ANSCHÜTZ make the logo a little more dynamic. A triangle was stylised together with a drawing ruler and the name ANSCHÜTZ was henceforth in the foreground.
1968
1968
Dieter Anschütz, representative of the 4th generation, takes over the management. He steered the company's fortunes with specialist knowledge, entrepreneurial competence and a great deal of personal commitment.
