The indicated service life of 4000 shots refers to the rifle electronics incl. the laser pulse under average use. Please note that if the rifles are not used for a longer period of time, the batteries will slowly run down.
The life of the batteries in the 5x target depends very much on use. It is quite possible that the batteries are "shot out" within 1 - 2 days.
